Candyland - WIP

Still in progress. Base layers made of two part resin blocks leftover from the first two projects and custom pieces made from casting resin powder.

Next layer made of cheap air dry clay. I knew it would crack but I also knew I'd either be coating the air dry clay in foam clay or my own simulation frosting.

The top layer is / will be BHOS foam clay. Foam clay is extremely common in simulation food making because it is a decent replica for frosting and dries light, soft, and flexible. However, it doesn't hold detail well. That is why nothing intricate and nothing that effects structural integrity is made from it.

You can see the contrast between the initial layer or foam clay and the resin (painted) swirl rising from it.

The edges of the plexiglass form are being shaped to resemble a combination of a pinch style pie crust and thick frosting.

Fumed silica mixed heavily into two part epoxy resin achieved the thick, drippy look of the Carmel in this fake apple.

Orange popsicle created with UV resin and alcohol inks in ~3 layers. Creating an almost time dye appearance.

Half finished pies. I will add cream, accents, and possibly lattice work to these.

Probably my favorite bit was the challenge of creating rock candy from resin.

The candy crystals were cut from a coaster molding of epoxy which was only allowed to partially cure so it would still be soft and flexible enough to cut into tiny sugar crystals using scissors (the same way hard candy and pulled candy are cut)!
